Triumph Spitfire 1500
FH1024420 left the Conley production line in April 1977 and headed up to Glasgow, to British Leyland dealer, Macharg, Rennie & Lindsay Ltd.
The Spitfire appears to have been ‘dealer transferred’ to Dias of Dumfries, from where it was purchased by and registered to ‘Gilbert Brown Ltd’ of English Damside Carlisle, Cumbria, a ‘protective workwear company.
Richard Johnson owner of ‘Gilbert Brown Ltd’ purchased the car for his wife Angela.
1st registering the car on 1st October 1977 Assigned the registration number UHH342S For 7 years Angela drove her Spitfire covering 12,507 miles, before parting company with the car, where upon, it was bought by Ronald & Sheila Styth on 17th August 1984.
The car was used Sheila and her son Angus.
Angus owned and regularly used the car up until March 2022
The car is in lovely condition.
Mechanically it drives great.
The engine has been rebuilt. Fitted with unleaded stage 2 gas flowed cylinder head with roller rockers. Matched inlet and exhaust manifolds, new pistons. The crankshaft along with the pistons and con-rods were balanced. K&N air filters, cabs rebuilt and slightly modified for performance, oil cooler, larger full width radiator and brake servo. Full stainless steel sports exhaust.
Wheels are the slightly wider GT6 type, recently blasted and powder coated and fitted with excellent matching tyres.
Bodywork is in great condition. Panels all fit nicely. Restoration in 1992 which is still in fine condition. On close inspection there’s small stone chips and odd marks but overall it’s in really nice condition. Underside of the car is in great shape and wax oiled to protect it.
Chrome on the back bumper is worn.
Interior is in very good condition.
The front seats have recently been refurbished with kits supplied by Newton Commercial. The original carpets are now showing there age otherwise the interior is in very good original condition. The dashboard is in great condition with no damage.
Fitted with a mohair fabric soft-top roof and complete with hood cover and tonneau cover.
The car comes with a huge amount of history and invoices.
Complete with British Motor Industry Heritage Certificate Old registration document, handbooks and original Triumph passport to service booklets etc etc
A lovely usable car that drives fantastic.
