Lotus Elan Sprint Sports Car
1972
This great looking car has been with its original owner from new, this is a genuine 1 owner Sprint.
Finished Regency red over Cirrus white I am told possibly less then 60 Sprints were manufactured in this colour scheme.
An original factory drop head.
All matching numbers
47,550 miles from new
The car has been in dry storage for a number of years due to the owners health issues. It now requires some recommissioning.
Mechanically. The engine is good and runs well. I am told an issue with the clutch master cylinder took the car off the road so this will need investigation. Brakes and other such things will need servicing and checking over before using the car.
Its still has its original chassis which is in VERY good condition with no issues.
Bodywork. A Very straight little car with good panel fit. It was repainted in 1984 (40 years ago) on closer inspection the paintwork isn’t fantastic, some cracks in the paint on the bonnet and odd bits of micro blisters. The fibreglass is in Very good condition with no cracks or damage.
Interior is in good condition and still retains all the scarce parts including the original steering wheel. The varnish on the dashboard has some wear.
The soft top hood is in very good condition.
In my opinion the Elan Sprint is among the best cars Lotus has ever produced, to find a genuine low mileage 1 owner example is something special.
The car comes with a nice history file and accompanying letter from the owner.
