1963 Harold Radford Morris Mini

Reluctantly time has come to sell this little car, I’ve owned the car for over twenty years.

Possibly less then ten 850cc Radford’s are know of

This car was purchased from Stewart & Ardern by Tom Kirby of Hornchurch, Essex, for his wife. It remained with the family for decades before I purchased it around twenty years ago.

Tom Kirby was renowned for producing the world’s most immaculate motorcycle racers, as described by B.R. Nicholls in the February 1966 issue of cycle world magazine. Tom specialised in preparing AJS and Matchless motorcycle machinery which was ridden by many successful riders from the period. Tom is credited with many wins and introducing the world to Barry Sheen.

The changes to the Morris include full length dashboard with binnacle mounted in front of the driver. Wind up windows with fixed quarter lights. Knighton restyled front & back seats trimmed in red luxury Ambla vinyl, as were the door and rear cards. Other period extras include chrome push button radio, Les Leston wood rim steering wheel.

The Old English white body was painted red down to the lower waist line a fitted with Riley Elf side chromes, wider chrome headlight rims, PL700 headlights and other features.

I used the car regularly when I first purchased it, then put into storage where it’s been for a number of years.

Bodywork is very good difficult to believe it’s just short of 60 years old.

It’s sold as a restoration project but it’s certainly no basket case. The car comes with 2 excellent doors which have been modified for the quarter lights and windows.

All parts are with the car.

Interior. Seats are in very good condition with no rips or damage. Dashboard is in very good condition again with no damage.

Mechanically. Within no time the car would be running and driving. It’s still retains its original engine and running gear.

I have built up an interesting history file for the car. This includes copies of letters from the first owners daughter, heritage certificate etc

The car was recently featured in the Mini Cooper register magazine and is known to the Coachbuilt registrar.

Radford Mini’s are very rare, this is a genuine low ownership unrestored car.
