1943 Ford GPW Jeep
Previously owned by Oscar winning actor Rex Harrison. This Jeep is in great running unrestored condition. It is understood the Jeep was part part of the 6th Armoured Group with the ‘Mailed Fist’ still in place. This is the regiment that came up through Italy and was held in battle at Monte Casino. The Khaki paint is reacting over time on the wings and tub to expose a shiny grey finish which suggests it could be a genuine US Navy Jeep before it was given to the British Army.Retaining many of its genuine WW2 features including body-tub, early bonnet, combat wheels with Firestone Bargrip tyres. Scarce lubrication bags and rare USA shovel, canvas and frame are thought to be original too. Fitted with period Willys MB unit it has been subject to a 12v conversation with the introduction of electric indicators.Recently the subject of mechanical fettling, service new master cylinder, points, plugs & condenser. Fuel system flush. Runs great and drives well.To restore the Jeep would in mine and others opinion spoil it. Enjoy it as is.

Fascinating history

The Jeep comes with a nice history file including copies of the original Italian logbook with Rex Harrison’s details

Plus images including one with Rex Harrison & Rita Hayworth
